| Day 01
Airport / Sigiriya – Hotel Sigiriya * * *
AM Arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport. Welcome and assistance upon
arrival and transfer to the hotel in Sigiriya. Enroute visit the elephant orphanage at
Pinnawela. It is an orphanage for baby elephants set up by the Department of
National Zoological Gardens. The Orphanage was established to feed, nurse, and
house young elephants found abandoned by their mothers. Other inmates are those
found displaced from their natural environs by development projects or those found
wounded.
PMArrive in Sigiriya and check in at the hotel. In the late afternoon visit the Rock Caved
Golden Temple, famous for its 01st Century BC cave complex and its vast area of
mural painted on the surface of the rock. It is also known for its large number of
statues of Lord Buddha carved out of the living rock. Return to hotel for dinner and
overnight stay. Day 02
Sigiriya / Polonnaruwa / Sigiriya – Hotel Sigiriya * * *
AM After breakfast, proceed to visit Polonnaruwa, the medieval capital of ancient Ceylon.
The city of Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Ceylon, with its comparatively
brief history with over a dozen rulers. Visit the sites where once seven storey castles
and temples were situated.
PM Return to hotel. Afternoon at leisure at the hotel. In the late afternoon, visit Sigiriya,
a massive rock fortress rising 183 meters above the surrounding green scrub jungle,
just declared a world heritage site, is perhaps the most memorable place for visitors
to Sri Lanka. The site was built under the orders of the paranoid king Kasyapa. The
well-planned complex included caved temples, bathing pools, lovely ponds and Asia’s
oldest surviving landscaped gardens. Today Sigiriya is famous for its frescoes
painted in the pocket of the rock. The “Lion Stairway”, the “Mirror Wall” and the“Water Gardens” are its other highlights. Climb to the summit of the rock to view the
ruins of the monastic complex. Return to hotel. Return to hotel for dinner and
overnight stay. Day 03
Sigiriya / Matale / Kandy – Hotel Suisse * * *
AM After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and proceed to Kandy. En route a brief stop
at Matale to visit a spice garden and a batik factory.
PM Proceed to Kandy and visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha.
Check in at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Day 04
Kandy / Peradeniya / Kandy – Hotel Suisse * * * (Colonial)
AM After breakfast, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya. The Royal
Botanical Garden at Peradeniya were established in 1821 and now covers 140
acres, snuggled in a loop in the Mahaweli River, the longest river in Sri Lanka.
Its primary purpose was the testing and acclimatizing of plants for commercial
use in Sri Lanka. Today the Gardens have one largest collections of flora from
sub tropical climates around the world.
PM In the afternoon visit the city of Kandy. View a cultural show featuring traditional
dance performances. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 05 Kandy / Nuwara Eliya – Grand Hotel (Colonial) AMAfter breakfast, checkout from the hotel and proceed to Nuwara Eliya. En route
visit a tea plantation and a tea factory.
PM Arrive in Nuwara Eliya and visit the city – the little English town. Check in at the
hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 06
Nuwara Eliya / Kandy / Negombo – Camelot Beach Hotel * * *
AM After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and proceed to Negombo via Kandy.
PM Arrive at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Day 07
Negombo – Camelot Beach Hotel * * *
AM Breakfast at the hotel. At leisure at the beach or by the pool.
PM Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 08
Negombo / Airport
AM Checkout from the hotel and continue to the airport in time for the departure
flight. Please note that you have to be at the airport 03 hours before the actual
